DECRO Advanced solution: composition, installation and connection

DECRO Advanced solution: composition, installation and connection

This article is intended to describe the main components of an ADVANCED (ADV) Decro solution for 4 or 8 animals in parallel. It also provides instructions to install the system and connect to the software.

1. Connection and configuration of the advanced system (ADV)

A. ADV Solution description

An ADV system is comprised different components:
1- Analysis and calculation server: is a high-capacity storage and powerful computing system that includes the necessary software for receiving and storing data from several acquisition units, displaying data in real-time to the user and allowing later analysis.
2- Acquisition units: Each unit can manage to Bluetooth communication with two animals in parallel. The number of units in an ADV system can vary based on the number of animals recorded simultaneously.

The system is packaged in a flight case, allowing for a plug and play operation with only one power supply and network cable connection required.

B. ADV solution functioning principle

This example shows an ADV 4 solution (1x Decro advanced server + 2x Acquisition units) :
The solution included in the flight case must be placed in the animal facilities. It contains a DECRO Advanced server which controls two acquisition units needed to record four animals.
This main server includes the LASA software and is remotely controlled by the user's computer via an ethernet cable connected to it directly (1) or via the network (2).

The server can be connected directly to a single computer in standalone mode (1) in animal facilities or to the local network in network mode (2) for remote access. Each configuration requires a different way of connection, which will be discussed in the following sections (see part 3).
Additionally, if you want to connect the system to the network, please refer to the “Application note for the IT department” in the Helpcenter, and contact your IT department for assistance.

2. Powering and booting the system

System installation and powering has been designed to be very straight forward.

1. Install the flight-case in the experiment room
2. connect the main power supply power socket (we provide socket adapted for different countries on request)
3. First turn on the main red switch from the off (O) to the on (I) position (System back)
For this step, you must give the server time to turn on, usually it takes a few minutes.

The system is switched on when the light of the acquisition units is GREEN and the light of the ADV server is BLUE

If the LED on one of the servers or acquisition units is not illuminated, first ensure that the main power switch is illuminated and turned on to the 'I' position.
Then, check that each server/aquisition power cable is securely plugged into its socket on the back of the power panel to troubleshoot the issue. Transporting the system may cause the power cables to become disconnected.

3. Connect the ethernet cable in the desired configuration

Connect the Ethernet cable to the server in right configuration:

In the Standalone mode : connect the cable between a switch port at the system back and the computer intent to manage the acquisitions. Physical connection between computer and system required to access the software.

In the Existing Network mode : connect the cable between the server port at the system front and the ethernet plug of an existing network. Connection of computer and the system on the same network is required to access the software

4. Connect to the server software

Enter the URL or the IP address in the search bar of the web browser. The system uses the browser as an entry point, but it is not connected to the Internet.

The URL and IP addresses are indicated on the server label next to the main server at the system front side.

They depend :
1- on the connection configuration (LAN1 : Standalone vs LAN2 : Network)
2- depend if the system includes the User Authentication and permission module (UAP) or not

Once you have entered your URL and when you have the user management system, it is possible that your browser displays a warning related to Certificate verification. To dismiss this warning in the future : you just have to store the system’s certificate on the computer it ( just Click on “advanced settings” then “continue on the website”).

A. WITHOUT User Authentication and permission module (UAP)

When the UAP module is not installed on the system the welcome page only requires a username to proceed.

You can enter your username, click on connect and the home page should showup.

We find on this page the different protocols organized in a chronological way from the most recent to the oldest

and other features like a search bar or technical information related to the server

B. With User Authentication and permission module (UAP)

When the UAP module is installed on the system the welcome page requires an email and a password to proceed...

A default admin account is created to enter the system the first time and proceed with the initial configuration:

Login : the name of the server added to .admin@etisense.com

      Password is : “decroAdmin”

For security reasons, it is recommended to change the password of the default account as soon as possible.

Once the fields are completed, the CONNECT button get enabled allowing access to the home page.

Then you finally arrive on the home page showing the different studies organized in a chronological way from the most recent to the oldest and other features like a search bar or technical information related to the system.

5. Troubleshooting with connection problem

STEP 1 : Check if the construction of the URL used to access to the server is correct with the connection mode selected (Extisting Network / Standalone) and with corresponding information displayed on the front label of the system.

STEP 2 : If the URL does not allow the connection, use the IPV4 address of the system. The address is displayed on the label in Standalone mode. If you are not sure of the IP address in existing network mode you may either ask to you IT or check for the IP address directly in the software. In this case you can use the standalone mode to access the software and go into “System Settings > GET IPS”.

STEP 3 : Check the proxy settings of your computer / web browser

An activated proxy can prevent the browser from connecting directly to the acquisition server. Disable it and try to connect again ...

Firefox procedure : Options > General > Network settings > Settings > check "No proxy".

Procedure Chrome / Edge : Network settings (computer) > Proxy settings > Disable proxy

>> It might be required to get assistance from your IT to disable proxy.

STEP 4: Contact ETISENSE’s support teams

If you are unable to connect after completing the above steps,

Contact our support at the following address: Support@etisense.com or open a ticket from the help center.
