DECRO NANO solution: composition, installation and connection

Notes
This article explains what the Decro NANO solution is, and provides instructions on how to install and connect it to the user's laptop.

1.  NANO solution – Introduction about the solution

The Nano is a lightweight data acquisition system designed specifically for recording signals. It focuses on doing one thing very well: acquiring data in real time.

Unlike other systems, the Nano does not include any tools for analyzing data. Instead, it is intended to be used with the Cloud interface, which handles the analysis after acquisition.

With the Nano, you can :

      - Capture and record signals in real time

      - See a live preview of the signal during acquisition to check quality

      - Automatically send the data to the Cloud, with no extra steps

Once the data is in the Cloud, you can use the full LASA software — directly online — to explore, analyze, and work with your recordings.

Please consult the complementary article : "Cloud Management"

2.  NANO solution – Installation

Info
The following description is based on a NANO x4. The hardware may be slightly different for the NANO x1, but the general principle and software remain the same.
In order to access the software and perform an acquisition, it is necessary to install and connect the system. Here are some steps to follow:

1- First, put your server in the same room of the animals, and avoid elements that may interfere with the BlueTooth signal, such as a metal partition.

2- Do not forget to screw the antennas on the adequate supports.

Starting up this type of system may take a few minutes (~5 min). Please wait before attempting to connect. The system is fully powered on when the blue light is steady.

3- Link the power cable and plug it in an electrical socket nearby. The start button  then lights up BLUE, if the server does not directly power on, click on the corresponding button.

4- Connect the Ethernet cable to the appropriate port, depending on your setup : either directly to a PC or to your network (NET).

  1. Standalone mode (Direct to PC) : Connect the Ethernet cable between the server's Ethernet port (at the back of the system) and your laptop's LAN1 port.
Notes
In this mode, the system is not connected to the Web. Consequently, data export must be carried out manually, locally : this involves compressing a session or study and then exporting it via the medium of your choice.
  1. Network mode : Connect the Ethernet cable between the server’s USB port (on the back of the system) and your network (LAN2) using an Ethernet adapter.
Notes
Once the network connection is established, access to the Web and Cloud is enabled. This enables direct data transfer and automatic synchronisation between the NANO and the CLOUD, without any intermediate steps.

Once these steps are complete, you can connect to the acquisition software.

3.  NANO solution – Connection instructions

Once the NANO solution correctly set up and plugged, you can connect to your acquisition system.

The access is made through a web browser, and two connection modes are available. You can either link your computer and the system with an ethernet cable, or connect the system to your local network to have a remote access (as view previously).

Info
Browsers compatibility is indicated in the following table.

Browser

Minimal version

Mozilla Firefox

48.0.0

Chrome

70.0.3538.110

Edge

Unsupported

Internet Explorer

Unsupported

Each connection mode has its own url, and you may find it on your system’s label.

On the connection’s page, click on the "CONNECT" button to access the system. The connection might take a few seconds, and if it is not working, please check that your ethernet cable is correctly inserted in the right port of the system.

Info
The NANO system has no predefined login or password. You are free to define those of your choice.
Once the connection succeeded, you will gain access to this page :

4.  NANO solution – Signal preview post-acquisition

For study creation, design and data acquisition, please refer to the corresponding articles. software use is the same for START, ADVANCED and NANO systems.

Info
As the Nano has no analysis features, data must be transfered to the cloud to have access to the detection and visualization of signals and calculated parameters.
NANO does, however, offer the option of previewing recorded signals.the steps described will be carried out in the cloud

> To find out more about data analysis, please refer to the article : Data analysis with LASA software. The steps described will be carried out in the cloud.

To preview the recorded signal once acquisition is complete, click on the "Session" button corresponding to the desired protocol.
Click on the "Preview" button to prepare the data for display.
Then click on the "Merge" button that appears. A graphical view should appear showing a preview of the signal.

Notes
The other post-processing views are not applicable : this preview is only used to check that the recording has been carried out correctly.
To continue analysing your acquisitions, you need to export your data to the CLOUD. A cloud button   is available in the header to manage imports from the NANO to the Cloud (see the article "Cloud Management" for more details ).

5.  NANO solution – Default Network Ports

In order for the NANO system to be able to send data to the cloud using the Internet (LAN2), you need to check with your IT that the following ports are open:
- Port 443 (HTTPS)
- Port 22 (SSH - rsync)

6.
NANO solution – Powering off from the software

We recommend that you power off the system by following this procedure:
  > Click on the gear icon located in the top right corner of the top bar

    > Click on the “SHUT DOWN” button on the settings popup that appears

Allow the system to shut down completely (all power diodes should turn off within a few minutes).
